As your skin ages, the loss of collagen and elastin results in two kinds of wrinkles on the face – dynamic and static. Dynamic wrinkles that occur during your natural facial expressions. For these types of wrinkles, we offer safe, minimally-invasive BOTOX® treatments at Soft Glow Med Spa to relax the visible signs of aging and refresh your appearance without any post-treatment discomfort or downtime.

What is BOTOX?

During the natural aging process, the skin decreases the production of essential building blocks such as collagen and elastin. This, combined with repeated facial expressions such as smiling, laughing, frowning, scowling or squinting, can lead to visible lines and wrinkles.

BOTOX® is an injectable treatment derived from small doses of the botulinum toxin that is administered directly into facial muscles with a fine needle.

Once underneath the skin, the solution blocks chemical signals from reaching the nerves, temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for the motions of facial activity. This creates a more relaxed, alert appearance and can be customized to leave you with natural facial expressions.

This injectable treatment offers several advantages to patients, such as:

  • Quick treatment sessions that are easy to fit into your schedule
  • An immediate return to normal activities
  • Minor, temporary side effects
  • Results that will not cause you to appear “frozen” or overdone
  • Subtle improvements that can erase visible signs of aging from your face without any tell-tale signs that you have “had work done.”
  • Proven safety and efficacy for a wide range of men and women
  • Botox is one of the most extensively studied neuromodulators on the aesthetic market

Men and women who are experiencing dynamic wrinkles and who either do not want or do not qualify for facial rejuvenation surgeries, who are in good health with no contraindicating medical conditions, and who have realistic expectations for treatment may be good candidates.

During your consultation with Dr. Qazi and our medical team, these factors will be discussed in order to help you determine if BOTOX® is right for you. If you are approved for treatment, we will create a treatment plan for you based on your individual aesthetic goals.

Results may vary, and multiple sessions may be necessary in order to achieve your aesthetic goals.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a non-surgical treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe wrinkles. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. The treatment is usually done in about 15-20 minutes, and no recovery time is needed—although you must keep your head elevated for about 4 hours following treatment (no downward dog or sleeping until then!). Within days, you may see an improvement that can last 3 to 4 months. Results may vary. 4o
Those moderate to severe wrinkles form over time as a result of muscle activity. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected directly into the muscles that create them. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles, reducing the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form. You can think of it similarly to a roadblock—the nerve impulse doesn’t reach the muscle, so the muscle doesn’t contract or expand, and therefore the skin doesn’t form the wrinkle.

Within days to weeks, you may see a marked improvement in moderate to severe wrinkles. We instruct our clients to wait a full two weeks to observe changes, as lines can continue to improve for up to a month, with results lasting for up to four months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their appearance as moderate to better one month after treatment. Results may vary.

Results from treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can last 3 to 4 months. If you discontinue treatment, the wrinkles will gradually return to their pre-treatment appearance. Botox results vary for everyone and can be influenced by factors such as metabolism, facial expressions, and at-home skin care. Call to schedule your complimentary consultation to learn more.
You will experience minimal and brief discomfort. Prior to injecting, your physician may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 15-20 minutes, and many people are in and out of the physician’s office without downtime following BOTOX treatment.
BOTOX® Cosmetic should not be used in the presence of infection at the injection site(s) and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation. Patients with neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects. Ask your provider and always disclose important medical information at each visit.
The most common side effects following injection include localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, bleeding/bruising, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.
Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases.
If you do not continue BOTOX treatments, the wrinkles gradually look like the way they did before treatment.
